Originally from Waikato, New Zealand, Tama Te Ahorangi Darlington is a talented young hooker, halfback and utility who has developed through strong rugby league pathways on both sides of the Tasman.

Tama’s early development included representing Waikato before continuing his rugby league journey in Queensland. He attended renowned rugby league school Keebra Park State High School and spent time with Southport Tigers at U18 level before progressing through the Burleigh Bears system, where he gained experience in the Mal Meninga Cup U18s and A Grade competitions. His pathway has also included representative honours with the NZ Māori U19s and time with Runaway Bay Seagulls, where he was part of an U20 premiership-winning side.

Primarily a hooker who can also play halfback or fill a utility role, Tama’s versatility gives coaches genuine options across several positions. His game is built around speed and sharp service from the ruck, complemented by strong game awareness, communication and a consistently high defensive work rate.

Tama is currently part of the New Zealand Warriors Jersey Flegg squad, representing another significant step in his development. With experience across New Zealand and Queensland systems, representative honours and the ability to contribute in multiple roles, Tama has built a strong foundation to continue progressing towards higher levels of the game.
