Relentless, explosive, and fearless — a forward who thrives under pressure

Biography

Born in Newcastle, NSW, Elizabeth “Lizzy” Montgomery has quickly emerged as one of the most exciting young forwards in women’s rugby league.

A product of Central Charlestown, Lizzy made her mark early, debuting for the Newcastle Knights in both the Tarsha Gale Cup and Harvey Norman Women’s Premiership at just 17. By 18, she was playing in a grand final, and at 19, she continues to rise through the Knights’ development system. Her performances have earned representative honours, including NSW Combined Catholic Colleges and most recently selection for NSW Universities, where she competed in the Interstate Clash against Queensland.

Before rugby league, Lizzy was a standout in AFL, joining the Sydney Swans Academy as a teenager. Her aggressive style, while a challenge in AFL, became a major asset in rugby union and league, where she transitioned seamlessly into both 7s and full-team formats.

Known for her strength, speed, and explosive footwork, Lizzy is a prop who can dominate the middle and break the line. Her versatility across codes and continued representative progression highlight a rare athleticism and competitive drive.

With her sights firmly set on the NRLW, Lizzy continues to build as a high-impact middle forward and is a name to watch.
