Relentless, explosive, and fearless — a forward who thrives under pressure
Biography
Born in Newcastle, NSW, Elizabeth “Lizzy” Montgomery has quickly emerged as one of the most exciting young forwards in women’s rugby league.
A product of Central Charlestown, Lizzy made her mark early, debuting for the Newcastle Knights in both the Tarsha Gale Cup and Harvey Norman Women’s Premiership at just 17.
By 18, she was playing in a grand final, and at 19, she continues to rise through the Knights’ development system. Her performances have earned her representative honours, including selection for NSW Combined Catholic Colleges.
Before rugby league, Lizzy was a standout in AFL, joining the Sydney Swans Academy as a teenager. Her aggressive style, while a challenge in AFL, became an asset in rugby union and league, where she transitioned seamlessly into both 7s and full team formats.
Known for her strength, speed, and explosive footwork, Lizzy is a prop who can dominate the middle and break the line. Her versatility across codes and consistent representative honours reflect a rare athleticism and competitive drive. With her sights set on the NRLW, Lizzy is a name to watch.
