Shona Hoyle is a seasoned England international and St Helens forward, known for her powerful running and fierce defense. With 21 caps for England and a decorated Super League career, she’s passionate about mentoring young athletes and will pursue her NRLW dream in Australia in 2026.
A dynamic front-rower with a relentless work ethic, Shona has been a cornerstone of the Women’s Super League since 2017. Her club journey reflects her versatility and leadership:
- 2017–2018: Bradford Bulls – part of the historic treble-winning side in 2018 (League Leaders, Challenge Cup, Grand Final)
- 2019–2021: Castleford Tigers – Co-Captain, League Shield winners (2019), Challenge Cup runners-up
- 2022: Played for Castleford, Huddersfield Giants, and St Helens
- 2023: St Helens – scored 16 tries in 17 games, earning a Woman of Steel nomination
- 2024: Leeds Rhinos – 16 matches, 10 tries, Challenge Cup Final appearance
- 2025: Returned to St Helens
Internationally, Shona has earned 21 caps for England, debuting in 2017. She played a key role in England’s 2021 World Cup campaign (semi-finalists) and captained Yorkshire in the Women’s State of Origin – Battle of the Roses in both 2024 and 2025.
