Maria Gabriela Graf is a standout Brazilian rugby athlete whose journey spans continents and codes. As the captain of Brazil’s national women’s rugby league team, she led the Amazonas in their historic debut at the 2021 Women’s Rugby League World Cup. Her leadership and playmaking skills at halfback earned her international recognition.
In 2025, Maria made history again by representing Brazil in their first-ever appearance at the Women’s Rugby World Cup. Competing in Pool D, Brazil faced powerhouse teams including South Africa, France, and Italy. Their participation marked a major milestone for Brazilian rugby and showcased the country’s growing presence on the global stage. Maria played as 5/8 and was the teams playmaker, bringing her trademark physicality and leadership to the field.
Now based in Australia, Maria continues to train and compete, with her sights set on further professional opportunities. She is a qualified personal trainer, gym instructor, and strength & conditioning coach, working with the Women’s Sports Academy to mentor young athletes and promote well-being through sport.
Maria is passionate about growing rugby in both Brazil and Australia. She is actively seeking sponsorship to support her training and development, offering brand exposure through social media, events, and gear branding. Her journey is a testament to resilience, leadership, and the power of sport to inspire change.
