Guomoy Murphy
Guomoy Murphy is a rising dual-code athlete from Hope Vale—resilient, grounded, and driven. With standout performances in both Rugby League and Union, and a scholarship at Rockhampton Grammar, he’s quietly carving a path toward elite competition and higher education. Humble in attitude but fierce in ambition, Guomoy is one to watch.

The Humble Kid from Hope Vale – no ego, just effort. A rising star with his eyes on the future.
Born in Cairns and raised between Hope Vale and Cairns, Guomoy Murphy’s sporting journey reflects resilience, leadership, and humility. Now completing Year 12 at Rockhampton Grammar School on a Cape York Leadership Program Scholarship, Guomoy has excelled in both Rugby League and Rugby Union, earning recognition across school and representative competitions.
In Rugby League, he’s played for Edmonton Storm, Rockhampton Brothers, Emu Park, and Cairns Kangaroos, and represented Rockhampton Grammar’s First XIII and the Dolphins Cup team in 2024 and 2025. His preferred positions include wing, centre, and second row.
In Rugby Union, Guomoy has played for Rockhampton Grammar’s U15s and First XV, Lloydies Sevens, and represented Capricornia Rugby Union. His athleticism is backed by strong testing results, including a 5:03 Bronco and 90kg bench press, with ongoing sprint and strength benchmarks.
Off the field, Guomoy is passionate about music, spear diving, and mechanical work, pursuing a Cert III in Engineering. He aims to enter university via the Gadigal Centre at the University of Sydney, explore the Elite Athlete Pathway, and break into the Q-Cup system — all while staying grounded in his Indigenous heritage and community.
