At just 26 years of age, Hannah Southwell has already built one of the most impressive multi-code careers in Australian women’s sport. She burst onto the scene as the youngest goalkeeper in W-League history, debuting for the Newcastle Jets at just 15 and representing Australia at U17 and U20 levels in football.

Her athleticism and competitive drive soon led her to rugby union, where she was contracted to the Australian Women’s Sevens program and helped secure victory at the 2016 Oceania Sevens Championship before switching to rugby league in 2018. That same year, she debuted in the NSWRL Women’s Premiership with CRL Newcastle. She earned immediate representative honours with both New South Wales in State of Origin and the Australian Jillaroos.

A Dally M finalist and NRLW Tackle of the Year recipient, Hannah has since become a mainstay of the NRLW, celebrated for her fearless defence and on-field leadership. She played a key role in the Sydney Roosters’ Grand Final win in the delayed 2021 season, before returning home to co-captain the Newcastle Knights to their 2023 NRLW premiership.

Now signed with St George Illawarra for the 2025 season and part of the NSW State of Origin training squad, Hannah is set for a breakout year. With major broadcast games, brand exposure, and representative opportunities ahead, expect to see Hannah all over your screens in 2025.

Off the field, she is equally influential. An RLPA representative and passionate advocate for the women’s game, Hannah uses her platform to drive meaningful change and inspire the next generation of female athletes.
