Gabby Savage is a rugby league outside back based in Canberra and currently contracted to the Canberra Raiders NRLW program as a Development Player for the 2026 season. A dual Australian Schoolgirls representative, she brings speed, physicality, and consistency across wing and centre, with experience in national and First Nations development pathways

Biography

Born and raised in Cairns, Far North Queensland, Gabby Savage began her sporting journey in rugby league and touch football, developing her game through club and school competitions before relocating to Canberra to pursue higher‑level opportunities. She attended St Joseph Primary School and Trinity Bay State High School before completing her senior schooling at Dickson College while continuing her football development.


Gabby has represented a range of clubs across Queensland and the ACT, including Cairns Kangaroos (U16), Belconnen United Sharks (U17), and the West Belconnen Warriors Women’s Open side, demonstrating adaptability and competitiveness across different environments and standards.


Her representative career includes selection in Queensland and ACT Schoolgirls teams, followed by Australian Schoolgirls honours in both 2024 and 2025, reflecting her consistency at national level. In recognition of her continued progression, Gabby has been selected in the Canberra Raiders Westpac Tarsha Gale squads for 2025 and 2026, and in 2026 signed an NRLW Development Playing Contract with the Canberra Raiders, marking a significant step into the elite professional pathway.


Gabby has also been selected in the First Nations Gems Rookie Academy (2026), further reinforcing her standing within emerging high‑performance programs.


Primarily playing wing and centre, Gabby is known for her strong carries, speed out of yardage, and growing defensive consistency. She continues to focus on increasing her work rate and impact as a backline player while balancing her football commitments with full‑time employment as an APS3 trainee with the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water.


Supported by a close family network and her club environment, Gabby remains focused on long‑term development, durability, and establishing herself as a future NRLW regular, while maintaining strong connection to family, culture, and community.
