Sione Tupou is an emerging outside back with a natural attacking style, built around speed, agility and instinctive play.

Of Tongan heritage, Sione’s rugby league journey has included time with Otara Rugby League in New Zealand before continuing his development in Australia, where he currently plays with the Werribee Bears. He has also broadened his experience through rugby sevens, representing in Tongan 7s environments and gaining exposure to a faster, high-tempo style of play.

A highlight of Sione’s sporting journey to date was winning a rugby competition in Queenstown, reflecting both his competitiveness and ability to perform in tournament-style environments.

Primarily a fullback, Sione’s strengths lie in his speed and attacking instincts, with a particular emphasis on ball skills and open-field play. His pace is a key asset, giving him the ability to break defensive lines and create opportunities in transition.

Off the field, Sione maintains a strong connection to his culture, family and community. He enjoys spending time with family and church, and has a strong personal interest in music and gaming, contributing to a balanced and grounded lifestyle.

Sione is currently focused on progressing into SG Ball in the short term, with long-term ambitions of reaching the NRL. With continued development, exposure and structured pathways, he has the raw attributes to build toward those goals.
