One of the most promising young forwards in Australian rugby – fearless, grounded, and ready to rise.
Sky-Yvette Faimalie’s 2025 season confirmed what many already knew — she’s one of the most promising young forwards in Australian rugby. As a teenager, she earned her first Super W contract with the Queensland Reds, joining a squad stacked with Wallaroos and sevens stars. Her inclusion followed standout performances in the StoreLocal Premier Women’s competition with Sunnybank, where she quickly established herself as a dominant force.
Sky’s transition to elite rugby was accelerated through pre-season training with the Reds senior squad, starting in October 2024. She credits the experience with sharpening her technical skills and building confidence alongside seasoned professionals.
In July 2025, Sky made her BMD Premiership debut for the Ipswich Jets, appearing in two matches and averaging 36 running metres per game. Her defensive stats — 17 tackles with only 3 missed — reflect her growing maturity and physical presence at senior level.
A proud Ipswich State High School graduate, Sky captained her school’s Open Girls team and was a Queensland City representative in 2024. Her leadership, composure, and team-first mindset continue to earn praise from coaches and selectors.
Inspired by Ardie Savea and mentored by Super W veteran Ana Afuie, Sky brings a grounded, professional approach to her development. Her strong cultural roots and relentless drive make her a role model for young athletes — especially Pasifika girls aspiring to break into elite sport.
With her first professional season behind her and national honours firmly in sight, Sky-Yvette Faimalie is not just rising — she’s setting the standard for the next generation.
