Maria is a versatile and dedicated athlete with a career marked by achievements and challenges across various sports. Starting as a professional futsal player, she found her true passion in rugby and rugby league. As the first Latin American woman to play in the BMD Premiership and the captain of the Brazilian national rugby league team at the 2022 Rugby League World Cup, she takes pride in representing Brazil on the international stage.
In addition to her on-field accomplishments, Maria holds a solid academic background in sports, fitness, and sports business, which allows her to contribute in various capacities within the sports industry. She is a rugby referee, strength and conditioning coach, and rugby trainer, always striving to develop the potential of young athletes, with a special focus on empowering girls in sports.
Currently, Maria is deeply involved in a social project that uses sports as a tool to instill values in school children. She believes that sports go far beyond competitions; they are a powerful vehicle for social transformation.
Her current focus is on a new challenge: representing Brazil in the Rugby Union World Cup next year. This is her present dream, and she is fully committed to achieving it, bringing all the experience and determination that have always guided her throughout her career.
